End-of-Life Care Issues and Alzheimer’s Disease is a 1-hour continuing education course that examines special care needs for individuals diagnosed with dementia due to Alzheimer’s at the end of life. The course lists physical and cognitive issues at each stage of Alzheimer’s as well as care goals for ethical and quality end-of-life care. It also explains how palliative and hospice care can improve quality of life, quality of death and manage symptoms.

Because many seniors with Alzheimer's will receive end-of-life care in skilled nursing homes or assisted living communities, healthcare professionals including nurses, social workers, case managers and administrators will find this course relevant and informative.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to review end of life care issues with advanced dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
