Trauma-Informed Approaches to Care: A Comprehensive Review is a 1-hour course that provides guidance on providing trauma-informed care in senior communities based on the CMS State Operations Manual. Definitions of “Mental and Psychosocial Adjustment Difficulty” are provided as well as symptoms of PTSD. Elements of non-compliance are listed, investigative protocol is reviewed and examples of 4 non-compliance severity levels are discussed.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide an extensive review of providing trauma-informed care in senior care communities based on the CMC State Operations Manual. 

Learning Objectives

  1. Define “Mental and Psychosocial Adjustment Difficulty”
  2. Provide guidance from CMS on serving residents with adjustment difficulties and PTSD
  3. Review symptoms of PTSD
  4. List key elements of non-compliance 
  5. List and discuss objectives of investigative protocol 
  6. Provide examples of 4 non-compliance severity levels  

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
