Trauma-Informed Approaches to Care: A Comprehensive Review is a 1-hour course that provides guidance on providing trauma-informed care in senior communities based on the CMS State Operations Manual. Definitions of “Mental and Psychosocial Adjustment Difficulty” are provided as well as symptoms of PTSD. Elements of non-compliance are listed, investigative protocol is reviewed and examples of 4 non-compliance severity levels are discussed.

The purpose of this course is to provide an extensive review of providing trauma-informed care in senior care communities based on the CMC State Operations Manual.
Learning Objectives
- Define “Mental and Psychosocial Adjustment Difficulty”
- Provide guidance from CMS on serving residents with adjustment difficulties and PTSD
- Review symptoms of PTSD
- List key elements of non-compliance
- List and discuss objectives of investigative protocol
- Provide examples of 4 non-compliance severity levels
Criteria for Successful Completion
To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
