Ethics in Health Care: Remembering Our Values & Principles is a 1-hour continuing education course that examines some of the most important core values and principles used each day to guide health care professionals in making decisions, providing care, and enhancing quality of life.

The course explores definitions of health care ethics, lists and defines 10 principles of ethical behavior, and discusses boundaries and boundary violations. It ends by discussing some of the most important ethical issues facing the health care professional in the 21st century.

Purpose

The purpose of this course is to review ethical values and principles in healthcare.

Learning Objectives

  1. Define heath care ethics
  2. List and define several core principles of ethical behavior
  3. Define ethical boundaries in health care
  4. Discuss violations of ethical boundaries 
  5. List and discuss some of the most important ethical issues facing the health care professional in the 21st century

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
