Engaging and Enriching: Building a Robust Activities Program in Senior Living

Purpose

Participants will gain insights into planning meaningful activities, leveraging available resources, and fostering an environment where residents feel valued and connected.

Learning Objectives

1. Understand the important of engagement: explaining how a well-structured activities program enhances residents’ quality of life, improves well-being, and reduces feelings of isolation 2. Develop a well-rounded activities plan that fosters resident-centered programming- identifying key elements of a successful program, including physical, cognitive, social, and emotional activities 3. Maximize resources and overcome challenges- exploring strategies to effectively utilize staff, volunteers, and technology while addressing common barriers such as staffing limitations and budget constraints 4. Measure success and adapt for continuous improvement- discussing methods for tracking participation, gathering feedback, and making data-driven adjustments to keep activities fresh and impactful

Criteria for Successful Completion

To receive continuing education credit for this program, you must complete the entire course, including registration, viewing the video program, taking the post-test and obtaining a score of at least 70% or better, and completing the program evaluation. If you do not score a 70% or better, you may take the exam again as many times as necessary to receive a passing score. When a score of 70% or better is achieved, you will be able to move forward to the evaluation and receive your certificate online.
