End-of-Life Care Issues and Alzheimer’s Disease is a 1-hour continuing education course that examines special care needs for individuals diagnosed with dementia due to Alzheimer’s at the end of life. The course lists physical and cognitive issues at each stage of Alzheimer’s as well as care goals for ethical and quality end-of-life care. It also explains how palliative and hospice care can improve quality of life, quality of death and manage symptoms.
Because many seniors with Alzheimer's will receive end-of-life care in skilled nursing homes or assisted living communities, healthcare professionals including nurses, social workers, case managers and administrators will find this course relevant and informative.
