Behavior Management Strategies for Cognitively Impaired Residents is a 1-hour continuing education course that identifies “challenging” behaviors associated with cognitive impairment as well as strategies and techniques for successfully and appropriately handling them. A problem-solving approach is reviewed as well as psychosocial alternatives to chemical and physical restraints.

Because the number of seniors diagnosed with a dementing illness who reside in long-term care is steadily increasing, healthcare professionals who apply appropriate and ethical strategies to better manage resident behaviors, will find this course informative and practical. Nursing home administrators, nurses, case managers and social workers as well as informal caregivers, will benefit by taking this course.
